French Farmhouse Comfort Food

Join Shawnie Kelley on Thursday, Jan 21, at Upper Arlington’s Giant Eagle Market District Kitchen as she demonstrates how to make some of her favorite French Farmhouse Comfort Food – perfect stick-to-the-ribs winter recipes.

Shawnie, culinary writer and French Tour de Cuisine guru, shares her in-depth knowledge of Provençal food traditions and her culinary prowess with a versatile winter stew entree. The perfect winter comfort food, Provence’s traditional beef stew, Daube, is a mouth-watering mixture of meat, vegetables and potatoes slow-cooked in a rich, perfectly seasoned wine sauce. Enjoy an intimate, small-group demo of the preparation of this rustic dish, along with a modern take on its customary accompaniment of potato galette. Her French farmhouse feast finishes with a warm winter dessert of fruit custard cake. Sample everything with regional paired wines. Wine and recipes provided.

Shawnie Kelley is Partner & Travel Director for Wanderlust Tours, specializing in culinary and cultural travel. Most of her cooking classes are travel-inspired and integrate discussions about regional history and culture. She has written several books, including her current project, A Woman’s Guide to France, which includes these recipes.
