Departing Saturday morning from a designated meeting point in Columbus, our small group travels in luxury aboard a Coach Quarters motor coach to the five-star Nemacolin Woodlands Resort, located an hour south of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania’s scenic Laurel Highlands. During the three and a half hour drive, we serve on board snacks and beverages, enjoying access to televisions, wireless internet (bring your iPad!), a kitchen galley, and a restroom. We start the morning off right with eye-opening coffee, tea, and a welcome cocktail, but feel free to bring your own favorite beverage of choice.
Upon arrival, valet transfers your baggage to your room. Choose from three levels of lodging on the resort property. A double or king room in the timeless, Forbes-rated four star Chateau Lafayette. Pay $100 per person for an upgrade to a Club Level king room in Chateau Lafayette. The private, five-star Club Level includes butler service and a hospitality lounge with televisions and an outdoor patio. A European-style breakfast, afternoon tea, and evening cocktails are a daily perk to the fifth floor Club Level rooms.
Or pay $100 per person upgrade for a room at the exquisite Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired Falling Rock Hotel. The Forbes five-star rated luxury hotel room includes 24/7 personal butler service at your disposal to draw a flower laced bubble bath, iron your clothes, present a pillow menu to ensure a personalized fabulous sleep, milk and cookies turn down service, draw your morning curtains during in room delivery of breakfast beverages.
No matter which accommodations you choose, you are ensured a special stay with access to a laundry list of resort amenities: pools, spa, fitness center, outdoor activities, golf, museums, casual and fine dining, and a new casino.
The Nemacolin shuttle is at your disposal for pick-up and drop-off to any location within the resort — including Nemacolin’s new Lady Luck Casino, which is just a few miles off property. Try your hand at one of the 600 slots machines, 28 game tables or kick back with a drink at the lounge.
Allow us to help plan your time around a spa treatment, round of golf, any number of outdoor adventures at the Adventure Center, such as zipping along one of Pennsylvania’s longest zipline, off-roading in Jeep Rubicons, horseback riding, or exploring on and off property by mountain bike …. or just wing it, wandering the sprawling property, zoo, vintage car and plane museums, and Hardy Family art collections.
Use your $100 resort credit toward lunch, breakfast or afternoon tea; a late-night stogie and whisky in the Cigar Bar; apply it toward one of more than 100 spa treatments and beauty services at Woodlands Spa ranging from massage, hydrotherapy, and a full-service salon; or use it to hit the links at Mystic Rock– PA’s Number one public golf course.
Bring your game face should you want to catch the Ohio State- Penn State football game or shoot a few rounds of pool at The Tavern. We will arrange for the 8 PM game to be on for our football loving guests after we share a special catered dinner at Aqueous made exclusively for Wanderlust Tours guests, which includes a limited amount of wine.
In the morning, enjoy a leisurely stroll or rigorous run around the property’s many trails for beautiful vistas of the Laurel Highlands, play a round of tennis, sign up for a golf lesson with a PGA Master Pro, or just wile away the morning over coffee in your room. The afternoon is yours to spend as you please!
Our Laurel Highlands expert docent is happy to coordinate a visit to Frank Lloyd Wright’s nearby architectural masterpieces, Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob or the historical Fort Necessity National Battlefield, where 21 year old George Washington spearheaded the war between the French, British, and Native Americans that eventually launched the American Revolution.
After check out, your baggage will be kept until we board Coach Quarters to return to Columbus, arriving back home in the early evening.
