Join Wanderlust Tours owner, and former architectural historian, Shawnie Kelley as she explores the great castles of Wales, those particularly concentrated in the northern part of the country. King Edward I, nicknamed as “Longshanks” and “the Hammer of the Scots”, led an intense military campaign between 1276 and 1279 to bring Wales under English rule. In order to defeat the powerful Welsh princes, he built a series of castles surrounding their unforgiving, mountainous heartland of Snowdonia. This array of formidable fortresses came to be known as the Iron Ring. Steep yourself in the historical highlights, famous faces, construction techniques and innovations through an hour-long, virtual tour of several Edwardian castles, including Conwy, Caernarfon and Beaumaris. This class is inspired by our Wanderlust Iron Ring Tour.

This ArchiTalks seminar is open to the public and free of charge.
